here are many types of caskets available for those burying loved ones to choose from there are wood caskets, gold plated ones and a host of other options for the discerning buyer. But considering that there basic wood caskets and fancy ones from which to choose, that is to say that with ever make of casket there exists a cheaper and more affordable options; it really is a waste of money buying fancy wood caskets when there are cheaper options that will do the job perfectly well.
There is a concept of bestowing the deceased with ‘dignity’ once they are dead, a dignity that can apparently be bought at any funeral supplier. Yet this obsession with bestowing dignity to the deceased when they are no longer alive to witness often comes the expense of the surviving loved ones. It is at the expense of loved ones because loved ones tasked with burying their deceased family member feel the often unnecessary pressure of spending copious amounts of money on these funeral costs, money that could otherwise be used on the living and the day to day financial burdens that they have to deal with.
While it is perfectly understandable that loved ones want to give the deceased the ‘best send off’ possible, the financial implications must be carefully considered. For if cheaper wood caskets would do perfectly the job that a more expensive wood casket can, why would money be poured into buying the latter and not the former?
