here are loads of similarities between dating over 50 and dating at a younger age than 50, least of which is the fact that every single singleton is dating with the intention – expressed or unexpressed – of finding the ideal mate and settling down, whatever that settling looks like for the singleton. In that regard, young singles have a lot to learn from those dating over 50.
Young people, although dating to find a mate to settle down with, seem to be caught up in the illusion that they have all the time in the world to find right partner. As such they meet maybe perfectly suitable partners when dating but are so entirely picky that they let go suitable mates for “something better”. Yet, those dating in over 50 have the wisdom of experience that informs their decisions, which include the fact that time is not always going to be on the young’s side and finding a suitable mate is only part of the process as there is work that must be put in to ensure the relationship flourishes. In this regard those dating over 50 can teach younger singles a thing or two about dating.
Assuming one doesn’t date for the sheer thrill of it, most young people dating could be far more successful in their quest to find the right partner if they followed the thinking inherent in those dating over 50, which is that the point is not to find the perfect partner, but one that is compatible with ones needs and give each potential partner a shot at a flourishing relationship by putting in the work necessary in anything that is to yield positive results.
