eer, like wine, can be highly subjective and at the end of the day if you like the taste, then buy the beer! That said, there are a few that really do rise ‘head’ and shoulders (get it?!) above the rest. Here are our top picks (in no particular order) for best craft beers Stateside right now:
Dogfish SeaQuench
Hailing from Milton, Delaware, this hoppy hybrid of Kolsch, gose and Berliner Weiss styles blend perfectly to give the drinker a refreshing sour summer hit. The salty notes of the beer are a nice add too.
Founders Brewing Co. Canadian Breakfast Stout
The Canadian cousin to this Grand Rapids brewing company’s Kentucky Breakfast Stout has subtle and sweet maple tones giving nod to its northern border influence. Coffee, chocolate and bourbon round out the flavours – perfect breakfast fodder!
Trillium Vicinity
Spicy with a tropical fruit twist, this is a New England-style IPA that doesn’t shy from the typical hoppy characteristics of its kind. Think summer-turning-to-fall-in-Boston, in a bottle!
Russian River Brewing Co. Pliny the Elder
A double-hopped IPA from California, Pliny the Elder has long been at the top of everyone’s list as one of the best brews in America. Dry, bitter and in-demand: you’ll likely be lining up to get your hands on this gem.
Bell’s Two Hearted Ale
Another Michigan brew, this time from Comstock, the Two Hearted Ale from Bell’s is light in colour and acute on flavour. Grapefruit and pineapple pair happily with caramel to offer bottled gold with a crisp punch.
Get to drinking (responsibly), friends!
