However, the Brewers Association defines a craft beer brewery as a brewery that produces six million barrels of beer or less annually, is independently owned and uses flavors derived from traditional brewing ingredients.

1. D.G. Yuengling & Son
D.G. Yuengling & Son is the oldest and largest operating home brewing company in the United States. In addition to this, the company is a family-owned craft beer brewery. It has been brewing since 1829 and is headquartered in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. The company operates facilities in Pennsylvania and Tampa, Florida.
The company uses a straightforward approach to beer and business which has helped it be very successful. It has seen an increase in production from 245,000 barrels of beer in 1993 to more than 2.8 million barrels in 2017.
D.G. Yuengling & Son produces a variety of brews including Dark-Brewed Porter, Yuengling Premium, Beer Golden, and Pilsner Yuengling Oktoberfest.
2. Boston Beer Company
This home brewing company was established in 1984 by James Koch and Rhonda Kallman. Its first brand of beer was named Samuel Adams Boston Lager after the founding father, Samuel Adams. Six weeks after its introduction, the beer was named “The Best Beer in America” according to a poll conducted during the hosts of The Great American Beer Festival.
Currently, the craft beer brewery brews more than 60 varieties of Samuel Adams beer.
3. Sierra Nevada Brewing Company
Sierra Nevada Company is a great craft beer brewery. It was established in 1979 and has grown to become one of the largest craft breweries in the United States. The company brews about 1.25 million barrels of craft beer annually which includes a selection of year-round and seasonal beers.
