T here is nothing quite like Venice – where you can lose yourself to the Venezia’s charm while marvelling at some of its greatest landmarks. Venice, the capital of the Veneto Region of Northern Italy is one of the most popular tourist destinations. A city of great significance during the Middle Ages and the Italian Renaissance; Venice has an alluring appeal with its 117 small islands connected by an array of water roots through the canal. Below are the things one must-do in this beautiful city.

Tour Venice: Canal Grande

Hop on a Vaporetto and admire the glory of Venice, while gliding through its most important Canal Grande. It runs from one side of the city to the other, with around 170 gorgeous buildings lined up on its banks. Some of these buildings date back to the 13th Century.
  • Ponte di Rialto
The most iconic of the total of four bridges that span across the Grand Canal, Ponte di Rialto offers a perfectly symmetric view of the canal. Originally made as a wooden bridge, it was renovated in 1524 using stones.

St. Mark’s Basilica & Square

Founded in 1092, the St. Mark’s Basilica is one of the most beautiful architectural landmark in Venice. A great example of the Byzantine style, this temple is adorned with fascinating sculptures, ornate details and artworks. It is located in the St. Marks’s square; which also houses several other important buildings and easily accessible from the Canal Grande.
  • Venice Lido
If you get tired of the touristy hustles of the Venice city, take a trip to the Lido island. It’s a small, separated island with lots of shops and restaurants; but very calm and relaxing. It’s an antidote to the super-busy Grand Canal area.
