T he type of hotel Expedia shouldn't endorse is not one that’s lax on cleanliness, or even impartial to rude and unaccommodating hotel staff, no. the type of hotel that should never warrant an endorsement from Expedia is one whose practices are blatantly or even marginally prejudice by way of profiling potential guests in terms of their race, gender or sexual orientation. This type of hotel shouldn't even call itself a hotel to begin with, but rather a cesspit of bigotry masquerading as a hotel. While hotels reserve the right of admission, this right must be called into question if the hotel uses it to promulgate dogmatic practices which do nothing more than subject certain groups of people to treatment which is below the levels of decent human behavior. Expedia itself may only see themselves merely as a conduit between hotels and potential customers, but ethical behavior, or the lack thereof in an industry which they are a major player, must be upheld by them through dissociation with hotels which are in breach of ethical behavior. And indeed, it is through their retracted business dealings with such hotels that the hotels may be forced to review their atrocious behavior, for this retraction will directly affect the number of people booking into the hotel negatively. A simple guest review on the hotels Expedia endorses, on the Expedia website where reports on discrimination are immediately flagged is one of the few ways this can be actioned. Expedia would be doing its part in curbing this societal cancer while simultaneously ensuring the people who use their services choose only from the truly accommodating hotels.
