A
good skin care routine can help you have a smooth, healthy and glowing skin for many years to come; you just have to establish a procedure of how best you can take care of it. It does not matter whether you have the time or not, there still are some basics that you should always try to follow. A good skin care routine will slow down the aging process as well as prevent other skin related problems. Below are some of the basic tips to follow:
Protect your skin from the direct sun: this is the basic thing you need to have in mind. Too much exposure to the sun may cause wrinkles, the risk of suffering from cancer and age spots are likely to appear. There are various ways in which you can protect yourself from direct sun. Firstly, choose an effective sunscreen lotion that you will apply each time before leaving the house. You need to reapply after every two hours or more often if you are sweating a lot or have gone swimming. Secondly, avoid areas that have direct sunlight. The sun rays are the hottest between 10 am and 2 pm, and it is advisable to stay under a shade at this time. Finally, you need o wear protective clothing. Wear long sleeved tops, trousers to cover the legs and a wide hat and sunglasses to cover the face. You may want to consider using detergents that give your clothes ultraviolet protection layer.
Handle your skin gently at all times: avoid cleansing and shaving too often as this will make the skin be too sensitive. Also, reduce the time that you stay in the shower. Hot water is good for removing unwanted oils from the skin, but it would be better to use warm water rather than hot. You should also avoid using strong soaps since they strip the skin off the natural and essential oils. Always shave carefully by using a shaving cream. Remember to shave in the direction the hair grows to avoid stressing and scratching the skin. Remember to use a moisturizer fit for your skin type.
Never smoke: smoking has never been good for the body, and it is neither good on the skin too. Those people who smoke have greater chances of their skin looking much older and even developing wrinkles. People who smoke have narrow blood vessels hence the skin does not get enough oxygen to keep it rejuvenated. The skin elastin and collagen are also damaged by this smoke the two main components that make your skin be elastic and prevent sagging. Other facial expressions like pressing your lips together when inhaling and squinting your eyes to avoid smoke also lead to wrinkles developing in these areas. You should, therefore, quit smoking as a skin care remedy.
