T raditionally, home internet providers set up the home internet service using a home telephone line. However, with the ubiquitous mobile phone if not complete eclipse of home phones by mobile phones, home internet providers should offer internet services in the home without a home phone as standard. It may be hard for some to believe but there are people who still have home phones, which provide call plan that are sometimes more affordable than mobile phones, especially when the calls are made from landline to landline. These are the consumers who are targeted by home internet providers. But there is now an option of installing internet services at home without a landline or home telephone. Mind you, this is an ‘option’, and not the standard in many home internet providers. So it is entirely possible to seek out a home internet provider when you have no home phone, and be unsuccessful in your quest to have the internet installed in your home. Granted, one could exclusively seek out the services of a home internet provider that has the option of home internet installation without requirement of a home phone, but given the demand by way of exclusive mobile phone users outnumbering people with home phones, the supply insofar as home internet providers should meet this demand.
