Prices of tattoos should be higher

B eing an avid appreciator of skin art, I fully advocate that prices of tattoos be hiked up a bit more for one simple reason, to separate those who hold a faddish view on tattoos from those individuals who genuinely and without a shadow of doubt are enamored with the tattoos. And not just enamored with seeing the artistry on display but also with offering their own bodies as blank canvasses from which ‘tat artists’, as they’re affectionately known, can create awe inspiring work. Long gone are the days when tattoos were considered the preserve of jail bails, rebels, and those from the wrong side of the tracks, regardless of age. Now more than ever tattoos have not only become socially acceptable, their mainstream appeal is enough to warrant a ‘reality TV show about the art; multiple TV shows in fact. But be that as it may, there are still plenty people who opt to get inked for the wrong reasons which subsequently – if inevitably – ends up in tears and the kind of regret that last a lifetime. For that reason, the cost of getting inked should be increased significantly so that only those truly dedicated to their decision to get a tattoo and have thought about the implications – and price – will make the financial investment. Because really; like any piece of artwork a tattoo is an investment; a lifetime one. One that is replete with memories of a personal nature and significance that no other artwork can ever offer save if you created it yourself.
