ack of job vacancies seems to be at the top of the list where disgruntled unemployed adults are concerned. And with good reason, since society seems to place the legitimacy of one’s adulthood primarily on one’s ability to find and keep an honest paying job. Yet, that there are job vacancies doesn’t necessarily equate to the alleviation of unemployment as the candidate and its ability as well as skills to fill the vacancies is equally important as the vacancy itself.
Unemployment is not a walk in the park, although it may seem like the easiest thing in the world considering what it effectively entails, but one need only consider the mental agony of being a grown up and not being able to financially sustain oneself, and a family if that’s the case, to see the toll that unemployment can take. However, the unemployed may need to consider their level of employ-ability more than the difficulties of landing a job because the job vacancies are there but seemingly not the right candidates to fill them.
The solution may be to up skill in accordance with the job vacancies that consistently present themselves, which may or may not be in line with one’s core competencies; or it could be that a career redirection is in store. Either way, the hardship of going from unemployed to gainfully employed is little to remark about when compared to the deprivation of having no job.
