A
t some point in time, everyone has been in a room and wished there was air con. Air conditioning can be a great piece of equipment in the home but there are a lot of factors you should consider before buying it. Below are some things to consider.
Price
The main deciding factor with AC is the price. The prices can vary, but they also tend to be fairly expensive and go up with size. The size of the air con unit depends on the size of your house or room. The bigger the air con unit, the more it will cost.
In 2018, US homeowners reported that they were spending between $3,500 and $7,500 to have air conditioning installed. This isn’t including the energy used to run the air con units.
Weather
If you are in a location where the weather is always hot and it never seems to get cooler? Then air con is probably your best option. However, are you considering air con when the weather in your location is varied? If so, it may be better to look at alternatives. Yes, air con is great when it’s hot, but when it's cooler and the AC not being put to use, is it really worth the thousands of dollars spent?
Renting
An alternative to buying an air con unit is to rent one. You won’t have to pay thousands to have your own installed, and once you no longer need it, you can return it. This could potentially save you a lot of money and still allow you to have AC when needed.
When considering air conditioning, take your situation and work out if it’s really worth it. Could you survive without it? Would renting be cheaper?
