T
he UK has many non-profitable organisations which will take your used car without giving you a monetary return and then sell it, auction it or recycle it to raise money to be donated to a charity.
1. Choose the enterprise
You can donate your car for charity through any of the non-profit social enterprises- Giveacar, Charity Car or CarDonationNetwork. Givecar was the first such enterprise and is featured by The Times, The Guardian, The BBC and The Sunday Telegraph.
2. Choose a charity
After you choose the enterprise that you will employ to donate your car to a charity, you have to choose a charity from the enterprise's registered inventory to donate the raised money. It can be charity concerned with children, health, elderlies, rescue, international aid, community welfare or the environment.
3. Give the contact information
After you contact the NGO to donate your car by furnishing your contact information, you will be contacted to decide on when and where the car will be collected from. The NGO will also cross check the information about your scrap car. The collection of the car is at your convenience and will not cost you an extra penny.
4. Complete the paperwork
The day the car is collected, some paperwork needs to be done. You will have to give a copy of your identification proof. A registration certificate may also be needed. If the scrapped car you are donating is still in working condition and will be auctioned, car keys and service history should be handed over.
