t’s a misnomer by many to believe that electric cars are a novelty of the 21st century. Following the relative success of hybrid cars after their introduction many assumed these vehicles – such as electric cars and indeed hybrids – were novelties of the 21st century propelled by the urgency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the unhealthy dependence on oil. Yet electric cars have been around for decades, but upon the introduction of internal combustion engines, electric cars have since not been able to maintain superiority of internal combustion engine cars.
Despite the fact that electric cars by comparison to ICE cars, are a lot more efficient and even with many brands now offering consumers the opportunity to purchase an electric car, ICE cars seem to be firmly preferred by motorists. Understandably the prospect of having to plug one’s car into an energy outlet, and other peculiarities that come with any new device is enough to keep people set in their old ways and not lining up to try something new and more efficient than their current choice of device.
Yet electric cars are more than just a set of peculiarities, for once one gets over the mental hurdle of getting acquainted with new electric car charging stations, and plugging in the vehicle into an electric outlet every night in order to recharge, then the full benefits of this vehicle can be enjoyed. But really, it’s more the consumer’s mental barrier to such a drastic change in mode of transport that will see internal combustion engine cars remain preferred favorites on the road.
