t is one of the basic tenets of investing one’s hard earned money to do the research into the stock market and listed stocks before you buy stocks. It stands to reason really that one would want to know what one is doing and what one is buying before handing over one’s money to someone selling you something.
The idea of doing research, for anything really, is not the most appealing to most people. When one thinks of financial freedom as it pertains investing and the stock market, one envisions that there is a host of people available to take over the responsibility of putting one’s money to good use. However, even if this fantasy is partially correct, one stills needs a working knowledge of how the entire stock market works, for how else would one even know that investing in stocks is the way to make one’s money grow exponentially? Furthermore, due diligence is crucial insofar as ensuring that the stocks that one’s chosen investors invest in on one’s behalf, are stocks that can and indeed will yield the returns promised. For to simply take someone else’s word on what the returns will be is tantamount to blindly handing over one’s money to an unseen force and hoping for the best. This is not a good idea, at all.
Part of being a good investor, one who cares about what happens to his/her money, is taking on the responsibility of knowing where one’s money is going, how one’s money is doing and that is research. To simply buy stocks and look away is not the most expedient way of growing one’s money.
