here is no denying - everyone loves Disney Cartoons! Even if they say they don't, deep down they know all the lines from The Little Mermaid, and they still cry when they think about Mufasa's death in The Lion King!
And within all the Disney movies, the Princesses' Classics are probably the best and more famous. The songs are great, the princesses are always very feminine and delicate but at the same time strong headed, and the thing they all have in common: amazing princes by their side! Many even say that it's Disney fault women set their standards impossibly high, but lets not get into that.
The truth is that our society is changing very fast and gladly women are no longer seen just as an embellishing object of the house where theyir only use is cook, clean and ake care of the kids. We can start seeing that difference in Disney movies, where women's biggest desire is no longer to find the man of their dreams.
We have got Merida from Brave who wants to take over her own destiny and doesn't want to get married, Elsa from Frozen who puts family above everything trying to protect her sister Anna, and Tiana from The Princess and the Frog who want's to open her own restaurant business as her father once dreamed (yes, she does end up with Prince Naveen, but love wasn't her priority so it doesn't count).
The stories are changing mostly because of all the controversy around Women/Human Rights and the concerns parents have been expressing. One of those fears is the influence that Disney Cartoons have on their children's lifes and the outdated ideas they transmit them.
That is why, more and more movies nowadays try to integrate characters regardless of their gender, colour, race or even sexuality with Finding Dory rumored to feature Disney Pixar's first lesbian couple.
But regardless of any opinion, Disney will always be Disney!
