The filling loft acts as the major determinants for the set weight and to an extent the insulation level. A comforter set will be stitched to protect the filling loft and also ensure there is even distribution.
A comforter set has a shell or covering which are made using cotton, blends of polyester or silk but with different counts of thread. The comforter set covering will have variation in color and the design used so as to ensure a proper blend with the other bedding used.
A comforter set is different from a bedspread in that, it is meant to be on the bed top so as to cover the mattress. A bedspread covers the whole bed and even the box spring. Comforter sets are designed for use during night time and bedspread are commonly ornamental and can be put into use as extra covering during the cold nights.
