An overview of the Pixel 3

W hile there’s been no massive technological leap forward with this, Google’s third iteration of the Pixel phone, if you’re already a fan you won’t be disappointed with this version. The camera alone is touted to be well worth the purchase and starting at US$799 for the 64GB version, it ain’t a cheap investment. The Pixel 3, and its sister option the Pixel 3XL, both offer a 12.2 megapixel camera alongside two selfie-ready front cameras at 8 megapixels each. The addition of a second camera gives you the option of a wider lens so none of your buddies are left out of the picture. The look and feel is generally of the same ilk as the Pixel 2 though the bezel is a notch slimmer giving he user a bit more screen value – now 18:9 and measuring in at 5.5 inches. That’s a 0.5 inch upgrade and nothing to be sneezed at. There’s still no headphone jack or slot for a microSD card, but if you’re already a user then this won’t bother you overly. And the fact that The Pixel 3 is one of the only phones on the market still giving you 2 front-facing speakers more than makes up for this. Battery life has been given a small boost and while it will likely last you a solid day’s use, it could stand to be upped a little further. Offered in three colours – Just Black, Clearly White and ‘Not Pink’ – The Pixel 3 is overall a good purchase and comes with a recommendation from us!
