Choose the Right Credit Card

You use your credit card all the time, so it’s important to find one that meets your needs. There are a lot of factors to consider, but asking yourself a couple questions will help you narrow down your options.

Why Get a Credit Card?

There are numerous reasons to use a credit card such as convenience, portability, and universal acceptance by online vendors. Additionally, credit card providers may offer a variety of perks for customers, including sign-up bonuses, cash or points-based rewards, and frequent flyer miles. Some stores may also offer cash back or discounted prices if you pay with a specific credit card, which makes shopping cards an attractive option for many.

If you want a card with a lot of bonuses, you will probably want to look for an unsecured credit card. These are the most common type of credit card, but they can be difficult to get if you have a poor credit score. If you are trying to build your credit score, you might find it easier to qualify for a secured credit card, which will usually require you to pay a refundable deposit equal to your credit limit.

Who Can Get a Credit Card?

In order to get a credit card of your own you must be at least 18 years old. However, some credit cards are available which allow a parent to add a child as an authorized user, so it is still possible for a teenager to get a credit card with parental assistance.

Some credit cards require a verified income, but other credit cards are available even to full time students. There is truly an option for anyone. Your credit history will affect the kinds of credit cards you are eligible for. A good credit score of 700 or above will allow you to access a better set of benefits and interest rate.
